Do you really care about Truth?
Is Truth important?
We live in an age of paranoid avoidance of truth. PR and political correctness gag us. Talentless fools on talent shows are encouraged by mums and aunties who tell them they are the worlds best. Mentors and motivators make millions advising us to fake it till we make it. Truth is in a bear market, but feel-good feedback has never been more bullish. The world is a barrel of gunpowder about to explode. Families disintegrate; marriages crumble; lives fall apart. But pretence is the preferred tactics in private lives, politics and trade. The culture of our day dictates: Truth is best avoided.
The world has forgotten all it once understood about truth. When we do start talking about ‘truth’ conversations immediately go out of whack because everyone has their own idea if of what truth is and how it works.
Let’s get this straight: Truth is not the enemy!
It is time to face the music and take a fresh look at “truth”.
Truth liberates, sets free. It breaks shackles, fetters and chains.
When truth goes hand in hand with love. When truth is drenched in wisdom.
Our choices in life are limited: two dominant parties that we may decide to join:
We may choose go with the numb-skull drifters that accept and absorb the current poisonous culture, or we may join the moaners and groaners who nag and complain, and who habitually focus on the dark side of everything.
There is a third choice, but it is a rare breed who makes this choice: to become persistent seekers of truth. And when we do find truth, to stand by it. It is a choice to resist the poison of negativity. It’s a choice to resist the toxic aspects of our current culture. It is a choice to be dedicated lovers of life, lovers of truth and lovers of all that is pure and good.
But the price for the choice may be high. Socrates was killed for making this choice and so was Jesus Christ.
A promise is sounding through centuries. The promise was made by one who was brutally killed for unflinchingly siding with truth:
“The truth will set you free.”
It may cost your skin. There may blood. You may have to pay with your life — but the truth will set you free!
Nobody can make this choice, but you. Are you one of the blindfolded drifters and absorbers of our current self destructing culture? Have you joined the ranks of bitter reactionary critics?
Or do you have a holy discontent with what you see around you? Do you have the guts, the resolve, the passion, to be different?
Do you have the unquenchable thirst?
Are you a Truth Seeker?
